Zeropunkt Live at Think Punk — Two Sets, 30 May 2026

No setlist. No rehearsed material. Four musicians, a room, and whatever happens.

Zeropunkt land at ThinkPunk Studios on Saturday 30 May for two back-to-back sets of dark, freeform neopsychedelic improvisation — or spontaneous composition, as the band themselves prefer to call it. This is the kind of gig the building was made for: a small room, a serious quartet, and absolutely no idea what's about to happen.

Who's playing

Zeropunkt is a Dublin-based four-piece working in the open territory between free jazz, post-punk and deep psych:

  • Fergus Cullen — saxes, keys, guitar, vocals, electronics
  • Jamie Davis — drums, percussion, sax
  • Damien Lennon — bass, bass VI, effects
  • Hugh O'Neill — trumpet, electronics

They started in 2013 as ¡NO! and have been operating under both names since. Over the years they've played and recorded with a who's-who of underground heavyweights — Glenn Branca, Damo Suzuki, Kawabata Makoto, Itaru Oki, Alfred Harth — and put out fifteen albums across both monikers. Their sixteenth, Starry Dynamo in the Machinery of Night, arrives on CD on 18 May via Last Of Our Kind, which makes this a release-week show.

The touchstones they cite — Keiji Haino, Can, Cluster, The Residents, Miles — give you a sense of the terrain, but Zeropunkt aren't a band in love with their own influences. Every set unmoors itself within minutes and goes wherever it wants to go. The Irish Times has called them "the most enigmatic and uncompromising trio on the free Irish scene". We're not going to argue.

Why two shows

Because no two Zeropunkt sets are the same — that's the whole proposition. The 15:00 show and the 18:00 show will be two different pieces of music in two different rooms-with-the-same-walls. Tickets are sold per set, so if you want to catch both, grab both. Plenty of people will.
